Complete your online learning and book your practical boat and jet ski training and assessment.Once you successfully complete the course, you’ll receive a Statement of Competency. Take it to a Queensland Transport and Motoring customer service center (TMR) with proof of identity to apply for your licences and pay the government licence fee. You must be at least 16 to obtain the licences, and your Statement of Competency is valid for six months.

You can do the course within 6 months of your 16th birthday. At the completion of the course you will be presented with the 'Statement of Competency' which has a life of 6 months. You must have turned 16 before presenting the 'Statement of Competency' to the Transport Department to get it endorsed on your driver's licence.

Yes. To operate a jet ski, you need both a recreational marine driver licence (RMDL) and a personal watercraft licence (PWCL).

For standard Bundaberg courses, boat training is $330, jet ski training is $330, and the combined boat and jet ski course is $550. Prices can vary at other regional training locations. For Hervey Bay courses, boat training is $330, jet ski training is $330, and the combined boat and jet ski course is $580. The Queensland Government licence application fee of $132.40 per licence is separate from your Albatross training fee.

Yes. Existing marine licence holders can complete the PWC BoatSafe course separately. If you need both licences, you can train for them together.

Allow a full day for any course, depending on numbers. Courses will be capped to allow all training to be completed within daylight hours.

Bring your online theory completion certificate and your driver licence or another form of photo identification. Your booking instructions supplied by your trainer will confirm the meeting point, start time and anything else you need on the day.

Complete the BoatSafe theory, then attend the theory assessment, practical training and on-water assessment. Once you’re assessed as competent, take your Statement of Competency to a Queensland Transport and Motoring service centre to apply for your licence.
